As you are aware we had a water main break on our first floor. Recovery and clean up are underway. We are waiting for additional reports from numerous experts- in a variety of fields to give us the green light to welcome our students back. For next week (May 20 - 24), we will be shifting to remote learning. All students are required to attend their virtual classrooms. Daily attendance will be taken. Students' computers/Ipads and additional papers will be available for pick up at the St. Theresa’s church hall (located next to the playground) from 12:00 - 3:00 tomorrow - May 17th. Students will either receive a paper copy of the daily schedule at pick up or their schedule will be posted in their Google Classrooms There will be no after school program for the remainder of the school year. I apologize for this inconvenience. Parent Conferences will be held remotely at your previously scheduled times. The teachers will be contacting you with the virtual meeting information. I will provide additional information as it becomes available. I'd like to thank everyone for your patience during this unanticipated event. I feel especially lucky to work in such a strong caring community. Thank you, Mrs. Laliberty Principal

Understanding the Vote to reconsider the LRUEMSD Annual Meeting Budget and Capital Fund Votes of March 11, 2024 1. Who can vote? All registered voters of the towns of Albany, Barton (including Orleans), Brownington, Glover, Irasburg, and Westmore. 2. Article One: This a vote to determine if voters wish to reconsider the LRUEMSD Annual Meeting Budget vote of March 11th, 2024. This means that if people want to reconsider the March 11th budget vote they should vote yes. If people do not want to reconsider the March 11th budget vote, they should vote no on this article. If the majority of voters vote yes to reconsider, then Articles 1B and 1C can be reconsidered and voted on. At this time the LRUEMSD Board will present the details of the budget. The budget was voted for $17,387,565. A detailed presentation of why this was needed was presented on March 11th. The voters would then vote to approve the original figure of $17,387,565 which the Board believes is necessary for the coming fiscal year. Additional information. • At the presently voted $17,387,565, voters will likely be responsible for approximately 47-50% of that figure, with state aid absorbing the rest. If this figure is lowered, that might not be the case. • If an alternate figure is voted, it is up to the Board to determine where cuts would be made. These could include teachers, paraprofessionals, transportation, extra-curricular activities, special programs, and everything else. This could also include needed building maintenance and repairs. 3. Article Two: This a vote to determine if voters wish to reconsider the LRUEMSD Capital Fund vote of March 11th, 2024. This means that if people want to reconsider the March 11th Capital Fund vote they should vote yes. If people do not want to reconsider the Capital Fund March 11th vote, they should vote no on this article. If they vote Yes, at this time the Board will present the details of the necessity for increasing the Capital Fund for LRUEMSD Schools, which was $500,000. Additional Information • It is important for voters to understand that in the previous three years most of the repairs to our building were accomplished through Grant Money including ESSER Funds from the Federal Government. Our schools all need work, and the grant money is ending. - The $500,000 that the Board asked for would be spent almost immediately on delayed and current repairs and replacements. This still does not cover all of the necessary and pending projects. • According to Truex-Collins Engineering Reports our schools could cost $108,000,000 to make them sustainable. • If the School Board cannot meet its bills a bond would have to be considered and voted on. The voters would then vote to approve the original $500,000 to the Capital Reserve Fund, to be used for repairs, replacements, and/or upgrading structural components and operating systems in projects costing more than $10,000 as overseen by the LRUEMSD Board Facilities Committee.
